Mother’s Day 2020: Q&A with the Moms of WAYB

This Mother’s Day, we wanted to feature the strong, intelligent, multitasking women who help keep the ship afloat at WAYB and in their own homes. Here’s a little Q&A with the moms and soon-to-be moms of WAYB!

Eve Bould

1) Favorite family trip you’ve taken thus far?

Our trip to Rome was a highlight. The kids were 4 and 2 at the time, and they had a blast running around the Colosseum, checking out gladiator swords and suits of armor. We rented an apartment in the center of the city, which gave us a taste of local life during our short visit.

2) First place you'd like to travel to as a family post-quarantine?

Costa Rica is at the top of our list. We're keeping fingers crossed for rainforest ziplining and volcanic beaches in spring 2021!

3) Greatest lesson learned from your mother?

One of the greatest lessons my mom has passed on to me is to give your kids the space to take risks and sometimes to fail; she understood the value of resilience decades before it was a parenting catchphrase.

4) Favorite thing about being a mom?

Seeing the world through my kids' eyes.

5) Plans for Mother’s Day this year while sheltering in place?

We'll be starting our Covid-19 Victory Garden. Wish us luck - there are a LOT of bunnies in our backyard.

1) Favorite family trip you’ve taken thus far?

It would have to be our trip to Thailand and Bali at the end of 2018. My son was almost 2 at the time -- old enough to run around the temples and try all the delicious, local fare, but young enough to need a nap (or two) to allow for relaxing downtime by the beach!

2) First place you'd like to travel to as a family post-quarantine?

It’s a toss up between the Maui trip we planned pre-quarantine and a trip with our friends and their kids to a dude ranch in Montana. Wide open areas for the kids to run around in and get their energy out? Sounds pretty great right about now!

3) Greatest lesson learned from your mother?

To adapt when circumstances change and to know when to accept what you cannot change.

4) Favorite thing about being a mom?

I love how a toothless smile, hearty laugh, or silly comment can make everything else around you disappear, force you to be in the moment, and remind you of what’s most important in life.

5) Plans for Mother’s Day this year while sheltering in place?

Somewhere between down time with the family and ordering take-out, I hope we manage to get a photo with me and both kids in it!

1) Favorite family trip taken thus far and why?

Disney World this past January. Baby #2 is soon on the way and it was such a great time to spend our last days as a family of 3 with our son!

2) First place you'd like to travel to as a family post-quarantine?

Ahh, we dream of the days where we can play on the beach in Kauai Hawaii, hike the Napali coast, and eat shaved ice with our boys!

3) Best lesson learned from your mother?

Never let anyone stop you, whatever your dream is, chase it and work hard for it!

4) Favorite thing about being a mom?

The best thing about being a mom, is that I get to raise my two boys to value and respect smart strong independent women!

5) Plans for mother’s day this year while sheltering in place?

Mother's Day will be nice and low key! We will most likely get some yummy takeout and take a long hike on the beach!

1) Favorite family trip from your childhood and why?

We were lucky enough to travel quite a bit as a family, and I have fond memories of flying from Hawaii to California to go to Disneyland. It makes it such a nostalgic experience to go back as an adult now that I live in LA, and makes me so appreciative of the big trips my parents were willing to take with us.

2) First place you'd like to travel to as a family post-quarantine?

We are hoping to be able to travel back home to Hawaii for my family to meet the baby!

3) Best lesson learned from your mother / grandmother?

The strength of women is amazing! It is truly impressive that my mother and grandmother were able to go through the experiences they did while also having a career and raising a family.

4) Favorite thing you're looking forward to as a soon-to-be-mom?

I have always wanted to have children, and am looking forward to all of the joy and craziness that this will bring. I hope to be able to instill positive values in my child, and I know that he will make me a better person as well.

5) Plans for mother’s day this year while sheltering in place?

This will be my last pre-mother's day, so I am planning to take it easy and celebrate the mothers in my life from afar.
